What Is Invisalign® Teen?
Invisalign® Teen is a variation on traditional Invisalign® that is made specifically for teenagers. While there are some unique features that differentiate Invisalign® Teen from normal Invisalign®, the overall principle is still the same. It’s an excellent alternative to traditional metal braces that have bracket and wires.
How Invisalign® Teen Works
With Invisalign® Teen, patients wear their clear plastic aligners at all times save for when eating, drinking, and cleaning their teeth. Every two weeks, the patient switches out the old Invisalign® aligner for a new one. Gradually over the course of many months, the patient’s teeth are shifted into proper alignment. The result is a smile that’s straight and in proper alignment.

Blue Dot Indicator
While patients can replace their Invisalign® aligners every two weeks, Invisalign® Teen includes special blue dot indicators as an extra reminder. These blue dots on each aligner will fade over the course of about two weeks. Once the dot is gone, patients can move on to the next aligner in the sequence.
Eruption Tabs for Incoming Teeth
Sometimes teenage patients don’t have all of their permanent teeth in place yet. Invisalign® Teen takes this into account. Each Invisalign® Teen aligner has special eruption tabs that accommodate emerging teeth and help guide them into proper alignment and position. This helps prevent the need for additional orthodontic correction later on.
Ordering Replacement Aligners
Sometimes teenagers may lose track of an aligner. Accidents can happen, especially when patients have a lot on their minds. That’s why replacement aligners are available through Invisalign® Teen without extra charge. Obviously teens shouldn’t make a habit of losing aligners, but Invisalign® Teen has them covered.
