Implant-Supported Dentures

If you use a removable denture, you know they can slip out of place when you chew or speak, causing uncomfortable, embarrassing moments. The team at Wyse Family & Cosmetic Dentistry in Bloomington, IL, can help you upgrade your smile with an implant-supported denture. This treatment gives your bite the same stability and lifelike look as natural teeth. Contact us today to get started on your new smile.

But the most important benefit of all is...

Dental Implants Preserve Your Jawbone

Every time you bite down, the roots of your teeth stimulate your jaw tissue, keeping it healthy and strong. When you lose teeth, your jawbone loses that source of stimulation and begins to atrophy. This can cause your remaining teeth to shift, as well as additional tooth loss and changes to your facial appearance.

Dental implant posts act just like the roots of your teeth, providing jaw stimulation and preventing deterioration. They support restorations that withstand the force of your bite just as well as teeth, without any shifting or slippage. Your implant denture can be shaped and shaded to give your smile a completely natural look.

Placing a Dental Implant Requires Sufficient Jaw Tissue

/

Because missing teeth cause jaw deterioration, you may not be an immediate candidate for dental implants. However, there are procedures to rebuild the strength of your jaw. Our Bloomington dentists can perform a bone graft or sinus lift to establish a stable foundation for your dental implants.

Learn How Implant Dentures Work With the All-on-4 Technique

All-on-4 denture implants
Our implant-supported dentures are placed using the All-on-4® technique. While traditional implant methods require six to eight implant posts to secure a full denture, this revolutionary system uses just four implants to achieve the same results. Your oral surgeon will strategically angle your dental implants for maximum contact with your jawbone. This makes the best use of your existing jaw tissue and can help you bypass the need for a bone graft or sinus lift.

We Can Repair Your Dentures, Too

/

Do you have a traditional or implant-supported denture that needs some maintenance? We offer denture repair services for around $200. In most cases, our dentists will be able to make any necessary repairs in just one day.

The Denture Implants Timeline

We offer multiple sedation options to keep your experience as relaxing as possible.
We offer multiple sedation options to keep your experience as relaxing as possible.

Preparing for Surgery

You may need treatment for an underlying dental issue, like tooth decay or gum disease, before you can receive dental implants. If we identify that you lack sufficient jaw tissue to support dental implants, you'll need to undergo a bone graft or sinus lift before implant surgery.

Placing the Implants

An oral surgeon will anchor a series of dental implant posts into your jawbone. Implant placement can often be performed with just local anesthesia, but if dental work makes you especially nervous, ask about sedation options for a worry-free experience.

Healing Period

It generally takes between three to six months for dental implants to fuse with the jawbone.

Placing the Abutments

Once you've healed from implant placement, you'll be ready to receive your abutments. These small pieces fit on top of implant posts and form the connection between implants and restorations.

Second Healing Period

The healing period after abutment placement is much shorter—usually just a couple of weeks.

Creating the Denture

Return to our office in Bloomington so we can take impressions for your denture. We'll send the impressions to MicroDental Laboratories, our trusted partner for over 40 years. Their technicians will create an incredibly lifelike denture with the ideal look and fit for your smile, using acrylic and resin-style materials with a lifelike appearance.

Placing the Denture

It will take about three to four weeks to complete your denture. Once it's ready, return to Wyse Family & Cosmetic Dentistry one last time so we can fit your restoration to your implants. Your dentist will make any necessary adjustments to ensure your bite is comfortable and stable.

How Much Will My Implant-Supported Denture Cost?

Costs at our practice are typically around $2,000 per denture. Denture repair typically costs around $200. Most dental insurance plans will help cover the cost of your restoration. However, implant dentistry is treated very specifically by insurance, so while your denture can qualify for coverage, your dental implants will likely not be eligible. We accept many forms of insurance and will work with your provider to get you the best possible coverage for your treatment.

If you're paying for your treatment out-of-pocket, you can secure financing through CareCredit®, a third-party healthcare lender that offers low-interest or interest-free loans with manageable monthly payments. We also accept all major credit cards.
