My name's Dr. Jay Chrisman. I grew up in Bloomington and went to college at Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, Illinois, and then to the University of Illinois Dental School in Chicago. After that I was a dental officer in the United States Navy for a few years. At the end of Vietnam I came back here to join my father, and I'm happy to say I'm a third generation Chrisman dentist in Bloomington.
Chrisman Dental has been in Bloomington for almost 75 years, and believe it or not I still have a couple of patients that saw my grandfather. I joined my father here in this office in 1976. It was a brand-new office and I worked with him for almost 20 years.
I'm very proud to be accredited by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. There are 368 dentists in the entire world that have earned that accreditation. I feel blessed to be able to take care of patients, to give them beautiful smiles that last a lifetime.
I decided to be a dentist. I had seen growing up what a good profession it is. It's a way to help people, and also patients are with you for many, many years. I think of an example, a couple of months ago a gentleman brought his mother in and it just so happened at the same time his daughter was here with her son, so I had four generations of one family here in the office at the same time.
You know, with dentistry we have families. We treat families, and we treat them for years and years and years. We see them grow, and it's a lot of fun that way. I feel blessed to be able to take care of patients, to give them beautiful smiles that last a lifetime.
